It is said that everyone is six or fewer steps away, by way of introduction, from any other person in the world. Our Project Management Director, Paul Wong, set up the 6 Degrees networking group to bring together key players from the business community to explore this theory.

Our last networking evening, set in the beautiful grounds of Hensol Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, was a great success. We hosted the event with Paramount Interiors, Arup, ISG Plc, Acuity Legal and our partner company GB+I. These businesses and their guests raised over 1,100 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The money will be used towards the Y Bwthyn Macmillan Specialist Care Unit, which is a joint initiative between Macmillan Cancer Support and Cwm Taf University Health Board to build a state-of-the-art 7m palliative care unit near Llantrisant in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The unit is Macmillan's biggest investment and build in Wales, with 5m being donated by Macmillan and the additional 2m being contributed by Welsh Government through the All Wales Capital Programme.

Rebecca Parke, a Fundraising Manager from Macmillan said, "Thank you to Six Degrees, Lee Wakemans, Paramount Interiors and to all the attendees at the event for your support. For more information on Macmillan Cancer Support please contact Rebecca Parke on [email protected]."

'The Three Waiters' surprised and entertained the guests with comedy and song. Nigel Hart delighted with his exceptional piano playing, and the evening was compered by the talented Nigel Phillips.

Paul Wong at Lee Wakemans, speaking of the event said, "I would like to thank everyone for their generosity for such an important cause, and for contributing to a very successful and enjoyable evening."

The next Six Degrees event will be held on Thursday 20th September at The Great Hall Dewi Sant in Cardiff, with a three course dinner provided by Spiros and guests will be entertained by 'Iconic Songs in Hollywood'.
