blaengwen wind farms

Lee Wakemans are pleased to announce the completion of a 10 turbine wind farm on farmland north east of Alltwalis, 12km north of Carmarthen.  Lee Wakemans provided Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management services to Mechanical and Electrical contractor, SWALEC.  The 10 turbine site will generate enough electricity for more than 16,770 homes.

The site was selected after a lengthy process to identify potential wind farm sites across the UK, taking into account landscape sensitivities as well as planning, environmental and technial criteria.  The turbines are 110.5 metres high to tip of the blades.  In additional to the turbines, the wind farm will consist of a landscaped substation and access tracks.

Site works commenced in November 2008 and were based on a 16 month programme, with a construction budget of £30m.
